It is with heavy hearts the VFAT announces the passing of Life Member and Ex-Chief Engineer Harry Johnson. Harry was a 47 year member of the department and spent many of those years as our Chief Engineer. He was also one of the original members of the "21-500" committee who put countless hours into the restoration and current upkeep of our beloved antique apparatus. Along with his years of service in the U.S. Marines, Harry was a Class A mechanic with over 20 years of over the road driving experience. Needless to say, Harry was a great asset for the department with a wealth of knowledge about the trucks and equipment. He truly was a teacher, mentor, and friend to all who knew him and will be sorely missed. May he rest in peace.
